Location & Vibe: It may already be August and feel like summer is coming to an end, but at Surf City it feels like summer vacation just started. Overlooking the amazing Liberty Harbor, Surf City really makes you forget you are in an urban city and transports you beachside. The massive indoor and outdoor space is perfect for group hangs, both day and night. There is something for everyone, large picnic tables, fire pits, jumbo Jenga, shuffle board and even a section where you can feel the sand between your toes; all while catching incredible views of the marina and the boats gliding across the NYC skyline.
On my visit, my friends and I caught the most incredible sunset as we fanaticized about being invited to a party on one of the huge Yachts docked in the harbor.
Food & Drinks : The menu is your typical beach bar food, offering fried seafood, classic bar appetizers, burgers and lobster rolls. There is a waited table service area or the option to order and pick up, cafeteria style. As for drinks they have plenty of options everything from cocktails to craft beer. If you want to have the full beach experience definitely get one of their fun & fruity frozen drinks!
Hands down the best thing we had was the chips and guac! The guacamole is hand mashed at a little guac stand/station.
Final Ruling: The food is pretty standard, I am definitely eager to try more of the menu. But for the atmosphere alone and waterfront views Surf City is a must do before the final sun sets on summer.
