Location & Vibe: Diesel & Duke is Jersey City newest burger spot located just off Newark Ave at 389 Monmouth Street. Their mission is simple: to deliver delicious fresh burgers at an affordable cost for the local community. The space is very welcoming, clean, and modern. There is plenty of room to causally dine in and it’s located centrally enough to easily grab and go.
Food & Drinks: The menu is short and sweet, offering six unique burgers for only $7.99. Make it
a double for $3 more or add on extra toppings for $1. Sides include five different fries options,
onion rings, and the highly sought after Fried Oreos. There’s a soda fountain and excitingly it is
I ordered the Holypeño, which comes with bacon, aged cheddar, jalapeños, caramelized onions,
and spicy mayo. One word YUMMM. The burger was bigger than expected with a soft bun and
juicy patty that was cooked to my preference of medium/medium rare. It was definitely on the
greasy and messy side, but in a good way! Be sure to grab plenty of napkins in advance! The
Cajun fries could have used a bit more spice and crisp, unless I got the regular ones by mistake,
but nonetheless what’s a burger without some fries. Next time, I would go for the loaded Ranger
Fries or Poutine.
Last but not least, the Fried Oreos did not disappoint. They are a must if you have never tried
them, so treat yourself to this yummy, gooey, golden brown, powdered sugary dessert! P.S. If
you check-in on Yelp you get an order for free!
Final Ruling: Say it with me: FRIED OR-E-OS! And if you are in the mood for elevated burger and
fries you can’t go wrong with the tasty and reasonable priced options at Diesel & Duke.
